Dog Obedience Training in the Denver Area

Level One Obedience

Level One Dog Obedience training

At FetchMasters, our mission is training excellent dogs and excellent owners. Our Level One Obedience course provides a comprehensive foundation for achieving that mission.

Level One Dog Obedience training program covers positive reinforcement training theory and basic obedience cues (Sit, Down, Sit-Stay, Down-Stay, Focus, Come, Leave It, Loose-Leash Walking etc…). Depending on your interests and your dog’s aptitude and progress, we also may cover some fun games and tricks, or begin working on more complex skills such as heeling and fetching.

This program also touches upon a number of common behavior issues, such as house training, jumping , nipping and mouthing , inappropriate chewing, bolting, begging and respecting boundaries. Other common behavioral issues can be covered on request. The program also covers the basics of dog handling, dog health, and appropriate human-canine interaction.

Level One Obedience is intended for puppies and adult dogs who have little or no training. It is only available in a private lesson format in Denver and the surrounding areas, as the best way to introduce a dog to new commands and behaviors is through in home training, which allows them to learn in comfortable environment. It is more productive to introduce distance, distractions and other variables after the dog thoroughly understands what you are asking of him.

If you only put your dog through one obedience training program, the knowledge you gain in our Level One Obedience course will prove to be the best investment you’ll make in your relationship with your dog.

Duration: 5 weeks (approximately one class per week)
Prerequisites:

  • Dog must be at least 16 weeks old
  • Owner must show proof dog is current on vaccinations
  • 6-foot leash and buckle collar

Level Two Obedience

Level 2 Obedience Training

To achieve off-leash proficiency, your dog must learn to obey you regardless of… well, just regardless. Our Level Two Obedience program focuses on three essential elements of off-leash control.

First, we carefully analyze your relationship with your dog and assess how your level of leadership can be improved. Second, we revisit the skills your dog learned in Level One Obedience and introduce distance, duration and distraction to the equation. And third, we start your dog on the FetchMasters Reliable Recall Program to train him to come to you when called, despite any distractions vying for his attention.

We offer two types of Level Two Obedience training. First, we provide in home obedience training for those preferring private lessons. We also offer a semi-private group class setting, which includes field trips to Denver’s public venues, city parks, and/or dog parks. Dogs entered into this course must have completed Level One Obedience training or be able to demonstrate proficiency in Level One Dog Obedience skills.
